Special School for the Children with Intellectual Disabilities, Kakinada, with a Sub-center at Jagannaikpur, along with Early Intervention Centre for Exceptional & Delayed Developmental Children.
 

Uma Educational & Technical Society, Kakinada is maintaining a Special School for Intellectual Disabled and Early Intervention Centre in the name of Uma Manovikasa Kendram at Kakinada with two sub-centers at Jaganaickpur and Early Intervention Centers at L.B. Nagar, Kakinada under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

During the academic year 2020-21, 209 children with special needs were enrolled in different centers at Kakinada. We have divided classes according to the age of the children related to Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Pre-Vocational, and Vocational. According to age, ability and needs we follow the curriculum of activities of daily living, functional, academic, social & communication skills, and leisure & recreational activities.

The main objectives of the special school is to provide Medical, Educational, & Rehabilitation services to children with delayed developmental and intellectual disabilities. The following are the services provided to the beneficiaries at these centers.

32 children with special needs have completed 10th class through Open Schooling System during the academic year 2019-20.
