Provision of suitable Aids & Appliances to the Needy

The main objective is to provide Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing / fitting of aids / appliances (ADIP) scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons in procuring Durable, Sophisticated and Scientifically manufactured, modern, standard Aids and Appliances that can promote their Physical, Social and Psychological aspects of the persons.

Assistive devices are external devices that are designed, made, or adapted to assist a person with disability to perform a particular task. Many people with disabilities depend on assistive devices to enable them to carry out their daily activities and to participate actively and productively in personal& community life. Access to Assistive Devices is essential for many people with disabilities and is an important part of any development strategy. Without assistive devices, people with disabilities may never be educated or able to work, so the cycle of poverty continues. Increasingly, the benefits of assistive devices are also being recognized for older people as a health promotion and prevention strategy.

The District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRCs) were established from the Year 1999- 2000 with active support from the state Governments. The DDRCs are now set up and funded under the Plan Scheme “ Scheme for Implementation of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (SIPDA)”- an umbrella scheme under which grants-in–aids are provided to State Governments and various other bodies, set up by the Central and State Governments, including Autonomous Bodies and Universities, to support their activities.

The DDRCs of East and West Godavari Districts is a scheme from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, and New Delhi. We are the implementing agency under the District Management Committee which is headed by District Collector and Magistrate. These two DDRCs of East and West Godavari Districts are providing several services like conducting Screening camps, Distributing Aids and Appliances, providing Rehabilitation Services, maintaining workshop unit for Aids and Appliances fabrication and distribution of Aids and Appliances to poor and needy people.

Programs
