District Disabled People’s Organization

District Disabled Peoples Organization (DDPO) is under the guidance of Uma Educational and Technical Society, Kakinada with the support of CBR Forum, Bangalore through CARITAS India, New Delhi. The main aim is to Empowering PwDs through Promoting Leadership and Collective Initiatives in East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.

District Disabled Peoples Organization (Asharaya Zilla Vikalangula Samakya) East Godavari District with is promoted with 373 Village DPOs consisting of 3930 PWDs are under the jurisdiction of DDPO which includes 11 Mandal Level DPOs total 15989 PwDs have benefited different services.

Key Achievements

  • 221 VDPOs are getting financial assistance from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for their development.

  • Conducted two days training programme with 25 DDPO leaders on DDPO manual, PwDs Acts and entitlements.

  • Conducted two days training programme with 37 DDPO leaders on 2nd level leaderships, Advocacy, documentation, RTI, and entitlements

  • Conducted press and media meet with 12 media peoples focussing on quality education, accessibility, 4% job reservation, Political reservation and framing the rules of RPwD Act 2016.

  • Conducted state level advocacy programme with collaboration of state level CBOs, NGOs to Smt. T.Vanitha, Minister for Woman, Child and Differently Abled welfare at Vijayawada.

  • 11456 PwDs were got social security pension under YSR Barosa scheme Rs. 3000/- per PwD and per month.

  • For Fund raising and empowering the community people conducted “ SRUJANA” musical event. Through this event they raised fund of Rs. 1,50,000/-.(Kind)

  • They conducted PwDs Vivaha Parichaya Vedika and marriages. During this period four couple marriages have been done. For this event DDPO have raised fund Rs. 3,50,000/- (Kind) through donors, NGOs and CBOs. This raised amount will be supported to marriage couples.

  • Formation of network building with local CBO’s and NGOs was happened to make Joint Action committee in district and state level.

  • Conducted world disabled day celebrations at district level with 350 PwDs. Lions club of Kakinada has sponsored to this event.

  • Conducted reflection workshop for two days with 30 DDPO leaders on preparation of planner, budget for next phase and assessment of DDPO activities

  • 6 DDPO leaders have participated national level convergence meet on UNCRPD at Anathapuram and Chennai.
